APPNA Peds gets Neonatal Resuscitation Program incorporated in FCPS curriculum

March 26, 2016 By Administrator

Dear friends,

Assalam o alaikum!

It is with great pride that I announce that through APPNA Peds’ advocacy efforts, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP) has formally announced to incorporate the Neonatal Resuscitation Program in its FCPS curriculum.

Dr. Ayesha Najib, one of our life time members, and immediate Past President, KEMCAANA has been instrumental in getting the NRP approved by CPSP, which is already using BLS, ACLS, etc.

This step is likely to greatly improve neonatal survival rates in the country by providing scientific and objective knowledge and training to the FCPS candidates, and making that a mandatory step.

As endorsed by Dr. Riaz, Chair, Neonatology Committee, and President Elect 2017, I will like to announce Dr. Ayesha Najib’s name for a 3 year position: “Chair, APPNA Peds NRP Committee“.

Dr. Najib has also been appointed by Dr. Bill Keenan (founder, NRP, Helping babies breathe) as the key person to roll out NRP/HBB in Pakistan.

Khalid Kamal
Founding President,
APPNA Peds
